The Queen's Law Journal is one of Canada's leading refereed law reviews, publishing high-quality legal scholarship in English and French. It is run by a student board of editors under the supervision of a faculty advisor. The Journal has an international readership and can be accessed in several legal databases, including Westlaw, LexisNexis, HeinOnline, Gale and EBSCO.
This Style Guide sets out guidelines based on best practices in Canadian legal writing, with a view to ensuring clarity, consistency and readability. It was first prepared by the Journal's editors several years ago as an in-house document, and has been expanded and refined by members of the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 editorial boards. It is designed for use by students, law journal editors, academics and others who do scholarly and professional legal writing.
